Biography

Dustin graduated from Unity College in 2008, where he earned a B.S. in Wildlife. As a research biologist with Biodiversity Research Institute (BRI) since 2007, he has participated in a wide variety of studies in which he has worked to determine contaminant exposure levels and effects in several species of wildlife. His research experience includes common loon monitoring and banding, Hg sampling of various bat species, and small mammal and furbearer trapping. As Waterfowl Field Coordinator he has conducted several projects including: radio-tracking and Hg sampling of mallards, avian influenza screening of common eider, atlantic brant, and various sea duck species, contaminant exposure research in common mergansers, Hg sampling of double-crested cormorants, satellite telemetry studies on common eider and white-winged scoters along the coast of Maine and Massachusetts, and most recently contaminant exposure research and satellite/VHF telemetry studies on clapper rails and brown pelicans in the Gulf of Mexico and south Atlantic coast.

Research Interests

His interests include contaminant exposure and effects on waterfowl, the effects of wind power and other alternative energy techniques on migratory species of waterfowl in coastal environments, and offshore movements of sea duck species on their winter staging grounds..
