Leah Hoenen

Leah Hoenen

Communications Specialist

Leah thought history was her calling until she began covering environmental issues for a southern Delaware newspaper and discovered a love for science and environmental journalism.

She joined BRI in 2014 to help write, proofread and produce the materials that tell the world about the organization’s research. She is also responsible for contributing to BRI’s social media, coordinating PR work and maintaining the website.

Leah earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in European history at Salisbury University on Maryland’s Eastern Shore before moving to Maine with her husband, Karl, in 2011. They raise sheep and poultry on a small farm outside Portland.
