After graduating from college and working seasonally as a fisheries biologist for the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection, Kevin came to Maine in 2007 to pursue a master's degree in biology at the University of Southern Maine where he studied the effects of wildfire on spatial organization of pronghorn antelope in Wyoming.
When Kevin joined BRI in 2009, he switched gears and began working as an avian biologist and manager of BRI’s Wildlife Mercury Lab. Kevin’s research experience with BRI has included contaminant sampling of forest and wetland birds, monitoring Northern Saw-whet Owl migration in the Gulf of Maine, shorebird avian influenza screening, and determining migratory connectivity of Eastern Willets breeding in the Gulf of Maine, and stopover feeding and roosting behavior of migratory shorebirds.
Kevin currently works with the Marine Bird Program to develop and implement research projects focused on shorebird conservation and continues to manage BRI’s mercury lab.
