Molly joined the BRI staff as the AFO Avian Research Supplies Store Manager in December 2016. In this position, she is responsible for fulfilling orders and all other day-to-day operations of the online store.
Molly is an archaeologist by education and training, earning her B.A. from the University of Southern Maine in 2015. During her studies, she was a research and teaching assistant for Archaeology courses and the supervisor of the campus zooarchaelogy lab, a comparative collection of skeletal remains of North American fauna. Her research at USM explored dietary trends and animal husbandry culture through the identification and analysis of large mammal bone remains from a seventeenth-century fishing village on the Isles of Shoals.
After she earned her degree, she volunteered at multiple archaeological sites in Maine and Massachusetts. Outside the world of archaeology, she has more than eight years of retail experience, and is the sole proprietor and craftswoman behind her jewelry business, LUNAMOTH Creations.
Her interest and enthusiasm for birds peaked when she participated in Saw-whet Owl banding with BRI in November 2016. Molly joined BRI in December 2016 to fill the role of Avian Research Supplies Store Manager, hired for her experience in small business management and keen interest in wildlife research.
