Dan graduated from Unity College in 2005, where he earned a B.S. in Wildlife Conservation. As a research biologist with Biodiversity Research Institute (BRI) he has participated in wide variety of studies from mammals to Common Loons. He has lead capture crews for common loons around the northeast for a Hg and long term banding efforts, in which he has worked with various state and federal agencies. Currently he is involved in Lynx tracking surveys throughout northern Maine with an effort to document lynx presence along the Appalachian Trail for the National Park Service. He is also participating in live-capture, radio tracking, and Hg sampling study on mink, otter, beaver and muskrat for a FERC study on a FPL Hydro reservoir. Dan also prepares study skins and mounts various bird and mammals for BRI's museum and specimen collection.
His interests include contaminant exposure and effects on Loons and mammals. He is also interested in habitat alteration and the landscape level impacts on furbearers and small mammals.
