In addition to his position as an adjunct scientist for BRI in charge of México programs, Dr. Rinker is the executive director of the Valley Conservation Council (VCC) headquartered in Staunton, Virginia. Having an 11-county service area, the VCC has protected the agricultural, cultural, and natural resources of the world-renowned Shenandoah Valley region for a quarter-century. Prior to his VCC appointment, Dr. Rinker was BRI’s director of scientific advancement and development and also served on BRI’s advisory council. He has published numerous technical and popular publications including Forest Canopies (2004, Elsevier Press) and Gaia in Turmoil (2010, MIT Press). Dr. Rinker also serves on numerous boards at home and abroad including Naturalia (México) and the Amazon Conservatory of Tropical Studies (Peru).
