BioDiversity researchers have studied the breeding and social behaviors of common loons for more than fifteen years. Part of this compelling work involves banding these magnificent birds, giving us the unique ability to identify individuals, and chronicle their lives.
In 1998, we introduced the Adopt-A-Loon program. This program gives the public the personal experience of following the life of a loon from year to year. You will become familiar with our world of wildlife research that fuels our ongoing loon conservation efforts.
The proceeds that we raise from the adoptions are dedicated completely to our work. In this way, patrons get to participate in supporting our efforts to protect loon habitat, and help us educate people about loon natural history, and threats they face.
