Joining BRI in early 2011 to develop the Institute’s communications program, Deb fully utilizes her skills and expertise as science journalist, editor, desktop publisher, marketing communications specialist, and grammar police. Over the course of her tenure at the wildlife institute, she has written, edited, and produced a wide variety of scientific communications pieces that help elucidate the complex science that ultimately informs those who are charged with the stewardship of our natural environment.
In addition to publishing printed materials and online content, she is responsible for BRI’s public relations program, implementing national and international media campaigns that have resulted in coverage in high-profile outlets such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Boston Globe, Audubon Magazine, The Guardian, The Huffington Post, CBS News, and National Public Radio.
We translate our scientific findings into succinct, clear language, engaging readers with wildlife photography and infographics that convey complex scientific concepts. Our outreach materials serve as a foundation for press conferences, policy development workshops, legislative hearings, and public events.
